(CNN) – An 11-year-old boy from Miami-Dade County has died from complications of COVID-19, according to the Florida Department of Health.

The boy is now the youngest person in the state to die from the disease.

He had severe underlying health conditions, the health department said.

The boy’s case wasn’t travel-related, but at this time it’s unclear if he had recently come in contact with someone who was coronavirus positive.

There were over 9,000 new COVID-19 cases reported in Florida Friday.
